With both Earthdash and Mooneyes slowly but surely crumbling as they move ever closer to colliding completely, so Dan and the rest of Team Basquash finally get the trip to the moon that they've been aiming for this entire series - In keeping with Dan's status as lenegd to be, they also manage to pull it off in a suitable manner, eschewing the Moon Cannon which was unavailable to them for a legendary vessel from the past.
This time around, there's nothing to prevent Dan and company from reaching Mooneyes, which leaves the rest of this episode to build up to the big climax which will decide the fate of the two worlds which currently hang in the balance. However, Dan's status as legend and saviour is far from assured yet, between new revelations about Slash (who joins Iceman Hotty's team in competing against Team Basquash in the Legends League) through to another trick which Yan appears to have up his sleeve back on Earthdash. While all of this is going on there's still some room for the likes of Sela, Miyuki and Flora to make progress down their own personal paths, coming to terms with their own feelings and what part they have to play in the trials and tribulations still to come.
It's difficult to know exactly what to say about this episode really, serving as it does simply as an appetiser for the main course that is the final episode in many ways. Still, this instalment does go through the motions of setting everything up in a solid enough way to be enjoyable, and even finding time for a bit of anarchy from Dan which brings back memories of those early episodes before this whole series became rather bogged down in the intricacies of its plot. While I still ultimately miss those simpler times, I remain more than a little curious as to how Basquash! is going to end, so I suppose you can say that's mission accomplished for this episode.
