An episode of Telepathy Shoujo Ran that doesn't feature some kind of ghost story just wouldn't be an episode of Telepathy Shoujo Ran at all, so there was nothing too surprising about Midori's admission to hospital after over-eating during an eating content turning into some kind of ghost-related mystery.
The episode actually begins with some admonished businessman on his way to a customer, but after taking a wrong turning and having what seems to be a near accident, he ends up seeing some ghost in his car and actually having an accident - Hence his appearance at the hospital Midori is at. While visiting her, Ran sees the same ghost, before also finding that the businessman has a strange mysterious scab that looks like a face on his elbow. Ghostly scabs? Oooh, spooky.
When Ran gets home she finds a bandaged man who can't remember his name, but knows that he's looking for her - A quick spot of ever-handy telepathy (well, it isn't telepathy really, is it, but we'll stick with the premise just because of the name of the series) reveals his part in the businessman's car accident, before he takes them to Kitougami House, where the plot begins to thicken...
While Telepathy Shoujo Ran has proved to be really quite a formulaic series in the way it lays out its episode structure, I can't particularly criticise this episode as it turns out to be a solid affair, building up the story slowly but steadily while still finding time for some mildly amusing moments of interaction between the main characters. It also manages to resist the urge to turn the girl's telepathy into something over and above what it's supposed to be, which has somewhat spoiled some of the other instalments of the series. I can't really judge this episode overall until we see how the story it brings us pans out (after all, the last story arc went pear-shaped and opened itself to ridicule in its second episode), but there have certainly been worse episodes of this series. If you've enjoyed the show's premise and offerings so far, chances are you'll have warmed to this story too.
