Culture festivals... sport festivals... we've seen them all a million times before in anime. But what happens when you combine the two? Welcome to the world of Kill la Kill.
After being informed of Ragyo's plans and the truth about Life Fibres, there's little time for things to sink in for Ryuko as Satsuki's return to Honnouji Academy heralds the start of preparations to welcome her mother (and Academy director) to the Culture & Sports Festival, and what promises to be the ultimate realisation of their plans. With even the town's peons offered up clothing containing Life Fibres to wear, Ragyo's goal is a simple one - to awaken the sentient beings within these Life Fibres entirely, allowing them to devour their hosts utterly.
Needless to say, Ryuko is having none of this, and between this and some discussions with Senketsu any opposition she has to going up against the Kiryuin's as the potential saviour of the word dissolves. With her two Nudist Beach counterparts (and Mako, of course) in tow, it's off to the Honnouji Academy stadium, as they arrive just in time to hear the screams of those about to be eaten by their own clothing. Somebody has to stop Ragyo's plan before mankind itself is wiped out... but the person leading the revolt against her plot may just surprise you.
Following on from last week's episode, this instalment of Kill la Kill was another rapid but (relatively speaking) sedate affair for the most part, building up to its massive plot twist that certainly made for a delicious way to close out the episode and set us up for what might just be something sensational next week.
