Kyouran Kazoku Nikki reaches its penultimate episode - Can this extremely hit and miss series end with a bang or a whimper?
Overall, the signs aren't particularly good for a memorable ending, jumping around between one place and another to keep the various plot devices on show from Gouyokuou to Gekka warm, but not really focusing on anything of them enough to be either interesting or funny (although I suspect that the latter has largely gone out the window as the show focuses of the whole Children of Enka plotline that started this series in the first place).
Of course, at the end of the day it all seems to come down to Kyouka, and we're left with what I have to admit is a pretty juicy cliffhanger to take us into that final episode - I can only imagine we'll be left with a happily ever after ending, but you never know so we'll have to wait and see.
I can't really pretend that this was a good episode of Kyouran Kazoku Nikki - To be honest, the whole thing just drifted on by me without eliciting much in the way of a reaction until that aforementioned cliffhanger, which leaves me thinking that this particular episode simply bit off more than it could chew, a situation not helped by any semblance of humor being forsaken this time around. Every time I watch an episode of this series, I think back to those few fantastic instalments and wish that the show as an entirety could have followed that lead - If that had been the case, we'd certainly have ended up with something more worthwhile than what we're left with here.
